ABOUT ME
Doug Timmerman
Hi, my name is Doug Timmerman and I am running for Sheriff of Mercer County.
WHERE I COME FROM
I have been blessed to be a lifelong resident of Mercer County. I am the son of Jim and Janie Timmerman and was raised near St. Anthony and lived there with my family until I married in 1997 to my wife, Jill, daughter of Ken and Ruth Bruns. Jill and I have lived in Coldwater since we have been married and have two beautiful daughters, Sammi and Siera.
CAREER HISTORY
My passion for law enforcement started at a young age. At 16, I started at the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office when I joined the Explorer’s program. In 1992, I graduated from the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy, achieving my certification to become a deputy sheriff. Upon the completion of the certification, I was accepted into the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office Reserves. Two years later, I became a fulltime dispatcher, and in 1996 was transferred to road patrol and held that position until I became a detective in 2010. In 2012, I was promoted to detective sergeant. I advanced my career by accepting a position in the Command Staff in 2017. Since then, I have had the privilege of serving in the following positions: Enforcement Captain, Corrections Captain and now the current Chief Deputy of the Sheriff’s Office.
AN ACTIVE COMMUNITY MEMBER
Professionally, I am an active member in the Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association, FBI LEEDA (Law Enforcement Executive Development Association) and the National Sheriff’s Association. Locally, I am involved in The Knights of Columbus, Saint Anthony Dinner Theater, Coldwater Eagles, and a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater, where I also serve as an usher. I have previously coached high school golf for 10 years and have also officiated basketball, baseball and softball for 13 years as a member of the OHSAA.
God has blessed me with the qualifications that make me the best candidate to serve and protect with respect as your next Mercer County Sheriff.
I am asking for your vote in 2024 to be your next Sheriff.
Paid for by Timmerman for Sheriff.
